Dalecarlia Tunnel
Last night I roughed in the Dalecarlia tunnel. The 300 foot long tunnel ran unde MacArthur Boulevard and the Washington Aqueduct.
I left the sides pretty steep for now until I have time to build the tunnel portals. The top 2 layers of foam are removable for track maintenance. For now the foam is painted black inside. The bricks are holding everything in place while the glue dries.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the aqueduct actually passes to the North of the tunnel where the railroad passes over a through girder bridge, number 14. The famous "bridge over nothing". Here's a bunch of pics: http://gallery.sluggyjunx.com/main.php?g2_itemId=62530
ReplyDeleteHey Ben,
ReplyDeleteI actually will be including the water where the pipe dumps out. I cut the foam after that picture was taken.
